Time interrupted 2019
After having children, what changed most was my awareness of the passing of time. In one way my own time was brutally "interrupted." In another, it was given incredible urgency – an explosive energy. This series of work is a first attempt to manifest one aspect of the abstract notion of time in a material object. They are small explosions that are meant to capture the middle of something. Not a beginning, and not an end, but an in between state. On a purely material level, I have introduced resin as a way of literally capturing my material on the verge of it falling apart. The nylon is caught in its frayed state without disintegrating into a pile of threads. It captures the act of making mid-process, as something explodes into being.
